Shout from the Rooftops! An Evening of Women's Health Through Storytelling & Dance
Larga Vista Dance will present “Shout from the Rooftops: An Evening of Women’s Health Through Storytelling & Dance,” an upcoming 60-minute performance centered on perimenopause, musculoskeletal health, and mental wellbeing. The program brings choreographers, healthcare experts, and patient experiences together in a staged work that uses movement to address health topics that often remain private, misunderstood, or left out of public conversation.
The performance will feature choreography by Miho Ryu, sarAika movement collective, and Adelita Hinojosa-Martin of Larga Vista Dance. Each choreographer collaborated directly with healthcare experts and patients to shape dance pieces rooted in lived experience and medical realities.
The evening is designed for all ages and will run without intermission.

Larga Vista Dance brings women’s health to the stage
The new work places women’s healthcare at the center of a live performance, with a focus on subjects that affect many people but can be difficult to discuss openly.
Perimenopause can bring changes in sleep, mood, temperature regulation, the cardiovascular system, physical comfort, and so much more. Musculoskeletal health can shape how people move through daily life, from joint pain to balance, strength, mobility, and recovery. Mental wellbeing affects the body, relationships, and a person’s sense of self.
Rather than present these topics through a lecture or panel, Larga Vista Dance turns them into image, rhythm, gesture, and shared attention. The company’s approach gives audiences a different point of entry into healthcare. It invites viewers to witness the body as both the subject and the storyteller.
While the performance does not replace individualized medical recommendations, it does share evidence-based women's healthcare education. This is an artistic event inspired by health education, experiences, and conversations, meant to open space for understanding, recognition, and community connection.
Three choreographic voices shape the evening
The program brings together three distinct choreographic perspectives. Miho Ryu, sarAika movement collective, and Adelita Hinojosa-Martin of Larga Vista Dance; each contributes a dance work informed by direct collaboration with healthcare experts and patients.
That process gives the production its foundation. The pieces are not abstract reflections on illness or wellness alone. They are built from conversations with people who have lived through physical changes, medical uncertainty, care, recovery, and the emotional weight of being heard or unheard.
The resulting dances translate those experiences into movement. By using the full body as the medium, the choreographers and the dancers create a performance that treats health as personal, social, and deeply human.

The performance focuses on health stories that are often kept quiet
“Shout from the Rooftops” points directly to a central theme of the evening. These are not stories meant to stay hidden.
Patients navigating perimenopause may struggle to name what is happening in their bodies. People experiencing pain or changes in mobility may feel pressure to keep going without support. Mental health concerns can be softened, dismissed, or silenced, especially when they overlap with hormonal changes, caregiving, work, family life, or aging.
The performance responds to that silence through visibility. It places these experiences under stage lights and treats them as worthy of attention.
The work also resists reducing health to symptoms alone. The program highlights human truth alongside medical reality. Strength may appear as endurance. Healing may appear as connection. Reclaiming wellbeing may look like asking a question, changing pace, accepting care, or finding language for what the body has been saying all along.
A 60-minute evening without intermission
The show will run for 60 minutes with no intermission, giving the evening a focused structure. The format allows each work to contribute to a continuous arc, moving audiences through different aspects of women’s health without breaking the atmosphere.
The age recommendation is simple: all ages are welcome.
That choice reflects the production’s broad relevance. While the performance centers women’s health, its themes reach across families, friendships, care networks, and communities. Many people know someone who has faced unexplained symptoms, chronic discomfort, emotional strain, or the frustration of not being fully heard in a healthcare setting.
The show offers a way to gather around those experiences with care.
